Unit 1: India and the Contemporary World – II
- Study any 2 themes from available 3. Third theme is compulsory and any one from first & second.
1.2 & 1.3- 1 from each sub units will be asked as defined for Term 1 & Term 2 below-
For Term I-
1.2 (Livelihoods, Economies and Societies)
Ch 4- The making of Global World which includes topics like- Differentiate industrialization in Britain & India, Relationship of handicrafts & industrial production, Livelihood of workers. Followed by this is case studies of Britain & India
Ch 5- The Age of Industrialization- urbanization, Migration & growth of towns, Social change Merchants, middle classes, workers and urban poor. Case Studies of London and Bombay in the 19th & 20th century
Ch 6- Work, Life and Leisure- Integration of the world market, Trade & economy between the two Wars. Case study of post War International Economic order, 1945 to 1960s
1.3 (Everyday Life, Culture and Politics)
Ch 7- Print Culture & Modern World- History of print in Europe, growth of press in 19th century
Cb 8- Novels, Society and History- Relationship of novel & changes in modern society
For Term II-
1.1: Events and processes (prepare any 2 of following)
Ch 1- The Rise of Nationalism in Europe after 1830s, ideas of Giuseppe Mazzini, General characteristics of the movements in Poland, Hungary, Italy, Germany and Greece.
Ch 2- The Nationalist Movement in Indo – China: French colonialism in Indo-China, Phases of struggle against the French, second world war, liberation struggle, America and the second Indo-China war
Ch 3- Nationalism in India: First world war, Non-Cooperation, Civil Disobedience Movement, Satyagraha, Movements of peasants. It includes map work of 3 marks
Unit 2: Contemporary India – II
For Term I:
Ch 1: Resources and Development: Types, natural resources, soil types, land degradation, conservation measures
Ch 2: Forest and Wild Life Resources: Types, depletion of flora and fauna, conservation, protection
Ch 3. Water Resources: Sources, water scarcity, need for conservation and management, rainwater harvesting, multi-purpose projects, distribution, utilization
Ch 4: Agriculture: Types of farming, pattern of cropping, impact of different reforms, major crops

Ch 5: Minerals and Energy Resources: Types of power resources, distribution, use, economic importance, Types, conservation
Ch 6. Manufacturing Industries: Types, distribution, contribution to the national economy, industrial pollution, degradation causes and measures to control it

It includes Map of 3 marks
