WBSSC CGL Syllabus For Combined Graduate Level Mains Exam Pattern
After completing the prelims exam WBSSC is looking forward to conduct mains examination in which candidate who have cleared the prelims exam can sit. Now most of the candidate, who are giving this exam for the first time, might be wondering what all they have to study to make a difference in the examination. Well we have the solution below we are providing the WBSSC CGL Main Exam Pattern and Syllabus. Examination is being conducted for the posts: Inspector, Research Investigator and Fishery Extension officer, Minority Development Officer, Backward Classes Welfare. Generally the whole selection process falls under three stages:
- Preliminary Exam
- Mains Examination
- Interview
We have to examination each and every stage clearly.
Preliminary Examination
Question paper will be objective type.
There will be 135 question consisting of 150 marks and should be completed in 90 minutes.

WBSSC CGL Prelims Exam Syllabus
General Knowledge
In this section questions from 10th class level would be asked.
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- History
- Geography
- Civics
General Standard
In these sections you have to cover knowledge about the national & international happening which can make a difference and study topics on National, International, Abbreviations, Current Affairs, Art & Culture, Sports, Reasoning, and Computer.
English (Must be of 12th class level)
- Comprehension
- Grammar Synonyms & Antonyms
- Spelling
- Idioms/Phrases
- Sentence Correction
Mathematics
- Higher Secondary or equivalent Standard
- Average
- Ratio & Proportion
- PercentageTime & Distance/ Time & Work
- Algebra
- Trigonometry & Geometry
- Mensuration
- Simple Interest
- Profit & Loss
Mains Examination
Candidates who have cleared the prelims examination will be eligible for the mains examination based on the marks scored. For few posts like Research Investigator or for Fishery Extension Officer will not have separate Mains Examination for these two posts and directly interview will be conducted.
However candidates who have applied for Inspector, Backward Classes Welfare or for Minority Development Officer will have to face mains examination after clearing the prelims.
WBSSC CGL Mains Exam Pattern
There will be descriptive test containing 100 marks and should be completed in 120 minutes.
