WBPSC Civil Service (Executive) Preliminary Exam Pattern & Syllabus is given below which has to be followed by every applicant of the exam. Preliminary Stage paper is attempted by all the applicants. So, it is important to score above cut off level in this examination. If the candidates clear the cut off then only they will be able to make up to Main Examination.
Exam pattern– Objective Type Paper in which there will be 200 questions each of 1 mark. The total time of 2.30 Hours will be given for the exam. The subjects included will be-

- General mental Ability
- Indian National Movement
- Indian Polity and Economy
- Geography
- Current Events
- History
There are 25 questions in each section of exam.
Exam Syllabus–
English- Comprehension passages, vocabulary, antonyms, synonyms, idioms, phrases, qualifying words, verbs, tenses, phrasal verbs
General Science- Everyday observation, science observations, new inventions, basic idea of nature
General Mental Ability- Basic questions based on decision making, relationships, simple mathematical calculations, statements & conclusions
Indian national movement: Important Dates, events occurred of national importance, freedom fighters
Indian Polity & Economy: Economy of India, Important dates & events, political system, role of politics, members of Indian Political System
Geography: Related to India
History: Related to India- old times, Modern history
Current Events: What happens current, questions based on political/ economical/ social factors of India, political new happenings of India, scientific inventions, political news of India & world, events of large importance, Sports news, educational sector developments.
